Sweet Like Lemons is a visual reflection on getting out of a harmful relationship and moving on. The title is a play on the saying “when life gives you lemons make lemonade”, only in this case there is no lemonade to be made but the lemons still taste sweeter than what you left behind.
A little girl, Madeline, takes us on a tour of her beloved childhood home. The more rooms we explore, she slowly remembers the strange and disturbing events that led to her death.
A middle aged single woman’s desperate attempt to find a friend after the trauma of a ‘no show’ at her birthday party. She self invites herself into her neighbour’s house seeking sympathy. Things start to go wrong when the neighbour is also interested in this friendship.

As part of a fishing community’s annual ritual, a young boy must kill his first crab in order to become a man and gain his father’s approval.
The 2D abstract hand-drawn animation comes from Na Li’s improvisational drawings inspired by a piece of music. She visualized the sound through automatic drawing, creating the film in a semi-conscious state. Na drew symbols to represent the sounds and instruments she heard, using abstract drawings to translate a poem.
